Recently, the main structure topping-out ceremony for the First Cluster project of the China University of Geosciences (Beijing) Xiong'an Campus, designed by IPPR, has been successfully held. University leaders, including Secretary Lei Yalin and President Zhao Zhidan, along with representatives from all participating organizations, attended the ceremony. Zhang Xiangrong, Deputy General Manager of IPPR, was present and delivered a speech.

Zhang Xiangrong extended congratulations to China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and expressed gratitude to the leaders and guests who have supported the project. He emphasized that IPPR has long served higher education institutions, boosting the development of education, research, and experimental activities. The company and the project design team place great importance on this project and will continue?to?align with the overall construction progress of the Xiong'an Campus. By leveraging technical and management strengths, IPPR will provide scientific design for the campus, deliver high-quality and efficient services for educational development in Xiong'an, and contribute professional expertise to the development of the Area.

IPPR is responsible for the master planning and technical coordination of the Xiong'an campus. The campus covers approximately 107 ha, with a planned above-ground gross floor area of about 960,000 m2, including approximately 518,900 m2 approved for Phase I. In addition, IPPR undertakes the architectural design of the initial development cluster, the first cluster, the lakeside cluster, as well as standalone buildings such as the campus hospital and main gates. These works encompass a wide range of functions, including teaching buildings, laboratory buildings, an arts center, a geological specimen repository, logistics facilities, and student dormitories, and the total gross floor area of the single buildings is approximately 260,000 m2.

The First Cluster project has a total building area of approximately 140,000 m2, comprising student dormitories, a one-stop service community, and student living service facilities. The design follows the principles of "global vision, international standards, Chinese characteristics, and high-level positioning" and is guided by the concepts of "Chinese cultural expression, lakeside landscape, and innovative spirit". It presents a spatial composition that is orderly and dignified, while embodying the geoscience philosophy of harmonious coexistence between humanity and the Earth. The overall architectural style adheres to the principle of "integration of Chinese and Western elements with Chinese essence as the foundation, and a fusion of tradition and modernity", creating a new international campus with geoscience characteristics where tradition and innovation complement each other.

The topping-out of the first cluster marks a critical milestone in the construction of the Xiong'an campus, laying a solid foundation for the next phase of work. Upon completion, the project will support Xiong'an in becoming a hub for innovative R&D and talent cultivation in Earth system science and emerging interdisciplinary fields, as well as an international hub for cutting-edge geoscience technology.
